Heavenly Father above, let me give a prayer of love.

For we know not

The time or place

When we’ll be called home

Finishing our race.

Let us be peaceful

Calm and wise.

Let us be happy

All of our lives.

For you have given us

Many lessons to learn:

A chance to abide

And a chance to yearn.

Without those lessons

Hard won and true

We finally realize,

We’d be nothing without you.

Amen.

Wonderful Lord,

Our God above,

Thank you for the blessing

Of the one I love.

Let us always be together,

Just him and I.

Let us do your work

As time goes by.

For we are just cogs

In this wheel called life.

Each with our part.

Each with our strife.

(God’s answer.)

Do not be burdened

By the lessons you learn

It’s all for a reason,

That you can be sure.

Be happy. Be prosperous.

Be filled with joy.

For yours is a journey

Meant to enjoy

Treasure the moments

As best you can,

For in a flash

It will all turn to sand.

God loves his children

One and all.

You and your loved one

Must heed the call.

Embrace your love

And treasure it all.

It’s a gift from God

No order too tall.

Someday you’ll look back

And see in a flash

All your dreams came together,

Just as you asked.

We are all One, dear.

Don’t ever forget.

Your wish is my command,

Your dreams heaven-sent.

It’s all magic

And the way of God.

Show all mankind

Just how it’s done.

What If the Next Step Is Smaller Than You Think?
Have you ever tried to figure out the rest of your life while sitting at the kitchen table? You start with one reasonable question. Should I make this change? Then suddenly you’re trying to determine where you should live, what your purpose is, whether you’ve wasted the last twenty years, what G...

When Your Soul Says, “Pay Attention”
Have you ever had a feeling you couldn’t explain? Something inside you said, Don’t do that. Or perhaps it said, Call her. Go. Wait. This is right. You may have dismissed the feeling because it didn’t seem logical. I certainly did for much of my life. We’re taught to use our brains to make de...

What If the Delay Is Part of the Plan?
Have you ever asked God for something, felt certain you were headed in the right direction, and then…nothing happened? No door opened. No answer arrived. No wonderful synchronicity appeared. You waited. And waited. Eventually, you started wondering whether anybody up there was listening. I’ve ce...

Things Aren’t Always What They Seem
Why a Danish pastry isn’t really Danish I was traveling through Scandinavia when I learned something that stopped me mid-bite. The Danish pastry is not Danish. In Denmark, they do not call it that. They call it wienerbrød. Vienna bread. I asked about it, the way you do when you are somewhere new ...

The Purpose of Adventure
Are you ready for your next adventure? What’s the purpose of an adventure? It’s more than you think! Our life experiences shape us—mentally and physically. Practicing for a marathon changes our physical makeup so we can go the distance during that 26-mile trek. It also changes our mindset, oft...

Learn to Live Life not Let it Lead You
These words came to me in my quiet time recently. Even though I have made huge strides since my days as a spiritually-starved workaholic, I was reminded to be even more intentional in the daily actions I choose. Perhaps you are at the same crossroad in your life—busy “doing” and not “being.â...

Treat Your Life Like a Garden — and Watch It Grow
Have you ever thought of your life as a garden? Sit with that idea for a moment. When you do, you’ll begin to see just how true it is. A thriving garden needs sunshine, water, nourishment, and regular care. It doesn’t flourish by accident — it grows because someone tends to it with intention. ...

When the Well Runs Dry: Finding Blessings in Life’s Inconveniences
Water. It doesn’t seem that important until you don’t have any! While farm life is fun, it does come with certain challenges. Such was the case this week when our pump stopped working . There was electricity to the well/pump, but the water tanks were empty, and that pesky red “fault” light w...

The Joyful Life: Why Your 30s and 40s Are the Time to Begin
I remember my 30s and 40s well: I was working, raising children, and married to someone who often worked nights and weekends. I used to joke that I was a single mom with his paycheck. Life was incredibly busy and exhausting—physically, emotionally, and mentally.   Suffice it to say, if I were...
